–A West Bend woman was killed, and three others were injured, following a multi-vehicle crash in rural Palo Alto County Friday evening.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 21-year-old Austin Ryan Stokes of Mallard was eastbound on County Road B55, east of Iowa Highway 4, in a 2015 Ram truck just before 5:30 PM Friday. As Stokes continued eastbound on B55, he encountered a 2006 Infinity M45 and a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country, both parked in the travel portion of the roadway.
Stokes was unable to avoid a collision, striking the sedan, which then collided with the minivan. The drivers of those vehicles were standing outside when the collision occurred, and 35-year-old Jamee Lynn Weber was fatally injured as a result. She was taken by ambulance to the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg where she died.
35-year-old Tyler Joseph Weber and 64-year-old Carol Ann Harding, both of West Bend, were also transported by ambulance to the hospital in Emmetsburg for treatment of their injuries, while Stokes was transported to the same facility by private vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation.
