Forest City 48, Algona 45
–Algona dropped their season opener on the road Tuesday night to Forest City by a score of 48-45. Hayden McLaughlin had 23 points to lead the way for the Bulldogs, who missed a game tying 3-point shot in the closing seconds. Algona (0-1) will host Mason City on Tuesday night.
Bishop Garrigan 76, St. Edmond 46
–Bishop Garrigan used a strong 2nd half to defeat St. Edmond Tuesday night by a score of 76-46. The Golden Bears led by 5 at halftime before outscoring the Gaels 24-13 in the 3rd and 27-13 in the 4th to bust the game open. Graclyn Eastman led the way for Bishop Garrigan, scoring 20 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Emmi Bartolo hit five 3-pointers and chipped in 17 points, while Sacha Alesch added 13. Bishop Garrigan (1-0) will be back in action Thursday when they host Belmond-Klemme.
North Union 64, West Bend-Mallard 39
–North Union jumped out to a 20-7 lead after 1 quarter and never looked back, as the Warriors defeated West Bend-Mallard 64-39 Tuesday in the season opener for both teams. Ainsley Ulrich led all scorers with 28 points, while Maisey Bierstedt added 16 points and 7 rebounds for the Warriors. Addie Montag led the way for West Bend-Mallard with 8 points. North Union (1-0) will be back in action Friday when they host North Iowa while West Bend-Mallard (0-1) will host GT/RA on Tuesday.
