–Officials with Kossuth Regional Health Center have approached county leaders with the idea of purchasing the EMS facility that is located on the north end of the hospital. KRHC CEO Dar Elbert addressed the Kossuth County Board of Supervisors during their meeting on Tuesday, and she says the idea stems from the medical center’s need for more lab space.

Elbert says that while they need more lab space to handle increased workloads, they also need to keep the lab where it is currently located.

After looking at ways to add additional lab space while keeping the same location, Elbert says the idea of purchasing the EMS facility came up.

Kossuth County EMS Director Phil Albers told the board that he has had some preliminary discussions with KRHC about the possible sale.

The supervisors did not commit to anything during their meeting Tuesday, but they will tour the county owned facility on Philips Street next week to see if the unused areas of the building could be renovated and possibly house EMS personnel.
