–A Graettinger woman is facing assault charges in Palo Alto County following an incident with law enforcement officials earlier this week.
According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to the report of a vehicle in the ditch along Iowa Highway 4 near Graettinger around 5:30 PM on Monday, December 15th. During the course of the investigation, Deputies identified the driver of the vehicle as 74-year-old Barbara Lowman of Graettinger.
While law enforcement officials were still on the scene, Lowman allegedly assaulted one of the Deputies and was taken into custody. She is being charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, an Aggravated Misdemeanor and was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
Court records show Lowman is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in Palo Alto County District Court on January 5th.
