–The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors officially extended the county’s moratorium on large-scale or utility-scale solar projects during their meeting on Tuesday. The county’s Planning and Zoning board met on Monday to make an official recommendation to the board for procedure purposes. Supervisor Amber Garman says that board had questions about the time frame moving forward.
The moratorium was set to expire on December 31st. Board Chair Carter Nath read the amended ordinance prior to its approval.
The initial 9-month moratorium passed by the supervisors in September of 2024 was to expire June 30th but was extended this summer to stay in place through the end of the year. The board approved all three readings of the amended ordinance and then officially adopted it unanimously on Tuesday.
