Texas Man Charged with 1st Degree Kidnapping in Algona Domestic Assault Case

–A Texas man with ties to the Algona area was arrested last week on multiple Kossuth County felony warrants in Oklahoma.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies arrested 34-year-old Christopher Ilan Rubio on Wednesday, January 14th after he was transported from Oklahoma.

A criminal complaint filed in Kossuth County District Court states Rubio has been arrested on three separate occasions since July of 2025 as part of a domestic abuse case and is accused of violating no contact orders over sixty times since the case began.

On the night of November 1st, 2025, Rubio allegedly stalked the victim to her current boyfriend’s residence in Algona and waited inside of her vehicle. At some point after the victim left, Rubio took control of her vehicle while she was still in it and intentionally caused an accident that left her in a medically induced coma before fleeing the state.

Rubio has been charged with 1st Degree Kidnapping, a Class A Felony which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole, as well as Stalking in Violation of a No Contact Order and Willful Injury Causing Serious Injuries, both Class C Felonies.

After being transported from Oklahoma, he was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Monday, January 26th.
