A former Eagle Grove police officer has pleaded guilty to sending obscene material to a minor using Snapchat.
According to a criminal complaint filed in January of 2025, 28-year-old Colt Richardson sent explicit images to a minor in December of 2024. Richardson was taken into custody on January 11th of 2025, initially pleading not guilty to the charges
Richardson was set to stand trial this week, however recent court filings show he pleaded guilty to two counts of telephone dissemination of obscene material to a minor and first-degree harassment last Thursday.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assisted the Eagle Grove Police Department and the Wright County Sheriff’s Office with the case.
A sentencing hearing for Richardson is set for February 27th in Wright County District Court in Clarion.
