–The Kossuth County Conservation Board is inviting area residents to attend an informational meeting next week to learn about the restoration efforts at Smith Lake. KCCB Director Kendall Stumme tells KLGA News that Smith Lake has collected a large amount of sediment of the last 60 years, and water quality has continued to deteriorate.
As part of the project, Stumme says the conservation board has partnered with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Lake Restoration team.
Stumme says there are obvious benefits to improving the water quality on Smith Lake.
The informational meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 26th at the Water’s Edge Nature Center, beginning at 6 PM. Anyone seeking more information about the restoration effort can contact Kossuth County Conservation by calling 515-295-2138.
