–The West Bend-Mallard School District is looking to approve a building project this week that would meet multiple needs. Superintendent Paul Peppmeier tells KLGA News they are looking to add a secure entrance for their building and more classroom space.

Peppmeier says adding more classroom space is needed if the district continues to add students.

While additional classroom space and a secure entrance are needed, Peppmeier says they also had to find a way to make sure this project could be funded without raising property taxes.

The West Bend-Mallard School Board will host a public hearing on the proposed project during their meeting Tuesday. If the project is approved, bids will be sent out this week with the hope that construction could begin over the summer months, and the project could be completed by the start of the 2027-2028 school year.
