SW Iowa Man Cited Following 2-Vehicle Crash Near Titonka

–A Southwest Iowa mans was cited after failing to stop and colliding with another vehicle near Titonka last week.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 70-year-old Harley Baumgartner of Audubon was northbound on County Road R14 in a 2021 Peterbilt Semi just after 12:30 PM on Wednesday, March 4th.

The accident report states that Baumgartner became distracted as he approached the intersection with County Road A42 and failed to stop, colliding with a westbound 2014 Chevy Cruze, driven by 19-year-old Ethan Henn of Buffalo Center.

Henn’s vehicle impacted the back trailer of the semi and was drug into the east ditch. He reported minor injuries, while a passenger in his vehicle was transported to Kossuth Regional Health Center by Algona EMS.

Baumgartner did not report any injuries. He was cited for Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device and Failure to Yield the Right of Way. Damage to his semi was estimated at $7,000.

Damage to Henn’s vehicle was estimated at $5,000.
