–Local leaders from a half-dozen government agencies and economic development groups are teaming up for the third Algona Business and Community Forum that will be held Thursday morning. Algona Municipal Utilities General Manager John Bilsten tells KLGA News that they have put together a panel of four business leaders that will offer a unique perspective on the area’s economic vitality.

Bilsten says while this year’s event will be similar to the previous two years, it will offer a slightly different theme.

The panel includes Aaron Pearce, President and CEO of Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group. Dar Elbert, CEO of Kossuth Regional Health Center, Nick Gilliand, Midwest General Manager of Smithfield Foods, and Betsy Barglof, Business Manager of Kinetic Technologies.

The forum is aimed at local business owners, leaders, managers, administrators, human resources, and marketing professionals. It will be held Thursday from 7:30-9 AM inside the Tietz Entrepreneurial Center on the Algona campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. No preregistration is needed for the event, which is a collaborative effort between the City of Algona, Algona Area Economic Development Corporation, Algona Municipal Utilities, Algona Area Chamber of Commerce, Kossuth/Palo Alto Economic Development, and the Tietz Entrepreneurial Center. Anyone with questions can call 515-295-7201 or email info@algona.org.
