–An Algona man is facing multiple felony charges after being taken into custody last week for allegedly violating the state’s Sex Offender Registry.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies conducted a bi-annual check on 34-year-old Christopher Lynn Hogan in early April at his residence in Algona and asked for consent to search his phone.
A criminal complaint filed in Kossuth County District Court alleges that Deputies found a snapchat account on Hogan’s phone that is not listed on his sex offender registration. The complaint alleges he opened the account in 2022 and never disclosed it to law enforcement.
Hogan was taken into custody last Wednesday (4/22) on 3 counts of Providing False Information on his Sex Offender Registry, a Class D Felony. He was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance. Online records show he is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on May 4th.
Hogan was placed on the Sex Offender Registry following a conviction in 2013 on a charge of Assault with the Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse in Pocahontas County.
