–The Algona Public Library is one of 300 around the country that is receiving funding to help improve access for individuals with disabilities. Sonya Harsha serves as the Adult Librarian and help write the grant application to the American Library Association.
The $10,000 grant will be used to purchase some new furniture that is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Harsha says they asked for suggestions on what improvements could be made around the library.
The grant is part of the Libraries Transforming Communities initiative through the American Library Association, which has focused on improving access in small and rural communities. The new furniture that will be purchased with the grant funds should be in place later this summer.
