–Kossuth County EMS will now use a standard set of rates when they are asked to provide coverage for events around the area. EMS Director Phil Albers spoke to the Board of Supervisors during their meeting this week after looking at standby-rate agreements from around the state and drafting language with County Attorney Todd Holmes.
EMS will charge $25/hour to provide non-dedicated standby coverage for all special events in Kossuth County and $50/hour for dedicated standby coverage.
EMS officials raised concerns about the need for standby coverage rates last year when talks with ABATE of Iowa did not lead to an agreement on covering the costs associated with their annual Freedom Rally near Algona.
