–The Democrat looking to become Iowa’s next State Treasurer will make a stop in Emmetsburg this weekend to meet with area residents. John Norwood announced his candidacy back in February and was unopposed in June’s primary election, setting up a November showdown with Republican Roby Smith. During an interview with KLGA News this week, Norwood cited his experiences that made him consider running.

Norwood believes that making a couple of adjustments as to where the state invests its money could help with those budget issues.

The State Treasurer serves on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Public Employee Retirement System (IPERS), and Norwood says he would make sure the system remains viable to assist the one out of eight Iowans who are invested in the program.
