The latest data shows the sales of new vehicles continues to slide in Iowa. From July 1st of last year to June 30th of this year, Iowans registered just over 104,000 new cars and trucks. That’s about a 12% drop in new vehicle purchases from the previous fiscal year. Bruce Anderson is president of the Iowa Automobile Dealers Association.
Anderson says the inventory crunch that happened during the pandemic has largely been resolved in Iowa and there are plenty of vehicles available.
Used and new car sales in Iowa topped five-and-a-half BILLION dollars in the past fiscal year. According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, there are over 4.5 Million vehicles registered in Iowa.
Of the new vehicles purchased in Iowa during the previous fiscal year, around 9% of were cars or sedans, while the vast majority were trucks and SUV’s.
