–Law Enforcement officials in Winnebago County took time Thursday to thank everyone involved in the search for an elderly man with dementia who went missing earlier this week.
91-year-old Ralph Dee Westerberg of Leland went missing Monday, prompting a search by law enforcement agencies from across the area, as well as private businesses and concerned citizens.
Westerberg was located early Wednesday afternoon in a remote wooded area southeast of Leland. Law enforcement officials say Westerberg was transported to a local medical facility as a precautionary measure and given fluids for dehydration.
On Thursday, Sheriff Steve Hepperly thanked all those that personally took time to look for Westerberg and everyone who helped spread information about the situation through traditional and social media.
