–A Kossuth County man has been identified as the person killed in a single-vehicle accident near Crystal Lake in rural Hancock County Monday afternoon.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2024 Western Star semi, driven by 59-year-old Dennis Scott Doocy of Lone Rock, was northbound on County Road R35 just before 2 PM Monday.
The accident report states that Doocy lost control 3 miles south of Crystal Lake and entered the east ditch, where the semi went over a field drive and through a fence before striking a tree and catching fire.
The semi, owned by Stateline Cooperative of Burt, was fully engulfed in flames by the time emergency personnel arrived, and Doocy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
