–The Union Slough National Wildlife Refuge will open up its auto tour route next weekend in recognition of National Wildlife Refuge Week. Refuge Manager Ed Meendering tells KLGA News that the fall migration is well underway which means plenty of wildlife is stopping by the refuge.

The auto tour will be open from Friday, October 9th through Sunday, October 18th, as visitors are welcome to drive cars, trucks, and side-by-side UTV’s through the 4.5-mile route.

Meendering says you may see more fall-like colors along the tour route by the time it opens next weekend.

The auto tour will be open sunrise to sunset from October 9th through the 18th. The tour begins at the refuge headquarters, 6 miles east of Bancroft along County Road A42.
