The major party candidates running for the U-S Senate debated for the first time last night, addressing issues like Social Security’s solvency and the war in Iran. Republican Ashley Hinson has been calling for an immediate and successful end to the war.
Democrat Josh Turek says the U-S is mired in another “forever war” like Iraq and Afghanistan with no exit strategy.
Turek criticized Hinson for opposing House Resolutions that called for ending the war.
Hinson said a resolution could prevent President Trump from bringing the war to an orderly end.
The debate was broadcast by Iowa PBS. Libertarian Party candidate Thomas Laehn is also running for Iowa’s open U-S Senate seat, but he did not meet the network’s criteria for participating in the debate.
