–A new piece of playground equipment will be dedicated Friday evening at Bertha Godfrey Elementary School in Algona. A grooup of food service workers with the Algona Community School District purchased the equipment in memory of a former colleague.
The new equipment is a 2-person spring rider school bus, and it was purchased to honor Cary Buss, who passed away unexpectedly in November of 2025. The bus is located on the north playground at Bertha Godfrey and is already available for children to enjoy.
Buss worked in the food service department before becoming a teacher and bus associate for the district, interacting with young students on a daily basis.
The dedication ceremony will be held at Friday at 5:30 PM on the playground at Bertha Godfrey, and it is open to any member of the public who may want to attend.
