–During their meeting this week, the Algona City Council heard from the 2 people who filled out the paperwork to fill the currently open At-Large seat. Brad Hoover and Carl Westling both spoke to the council about their interest in the spot vacated with the resignation of Mike Sabin last month and some of the ideas they may bring to the table.
City Administrator Jacob Tjaden told the council that the choice between the two will need to be made soon.
Whichever candidate is selected by the council, they will need to decide quickly if they want to seek election this fall. Sabin’s seat is up at the end of the year, so Hoover or Westling would be on the ballot this November if they want to seek a full term.
