–A Winnebago County man has been sentenced to 8 years in Federal Prison after pleading guilty to drug charges in US District Court.
According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, 35-year-old Joey Post of Thompson received the sentence on Tuesday in Sioux City after pleading guilty to being part of a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in and around Kossuth County.
Evidence presented at the plea and sentencing hearings showed that Post and others distributed over 10-pounds of methamphetamine between July of 2020 and May of 2022. This included distributing meth to an individual that was working with law enforcement in Swea City on more than one occasion.
Post was sentenced to 8 years in prison by US District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand, along with a 3-year period of supervised release following his prison time. There is no parole in the federal system.
The case was investigated by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Iowa DCI Laboratory.
