–Iowa State Bank announced a pair of gifts to the Algona Police Department’s K9 fundraising effort this week.

ISB officials presented two checks to Police Chief Bo Miller and Officer Brian Hillyer to put towards the costs associated with purchasing the new dog. The first check is a $5,000 contribution from the Iowa State Bank Corporation, while the second is a $2,500 donation from the bank’s employee driven charity, the ISB Community Crusaders.

The Algona PD’s current K9 Officer Puma will turn 10 next year and be retiring from service. Officer Hillyer will be transitioning his role within the department next year, as he will become the K9 Handler.

If you would like to contribute to the effort, you can contact the Algona PD by calling 515-295-3515 or drop off your donation at the Law Enforcement Center in downtown Algona.
