–This year’s Algona Founder’s Day Celebration will feature a new event that will bring multiple cultures together through food. The Founder’s Day Committee is partnering with a new organization, the Latino Community Initiative, to put together the World Food Festival on the afternoon of Saturday, July 8th. Leslie Lampe serves as a liaison between the two groups, and she tells KLGA News they are excited to make this event a part of the Founder’s Day festivities.

Participants will be able to use their favorite recipes using different cuts of Pork, whether that be Pork Butt, Ribs, Pork Loin or Ground Pork.

Tickets are just $5 if you want to come and sample all of the food.

While everyone is sampling the food, there will also be live entertainment on hand.

The World Food Festival will run from 4-7PM on Saturday, July 8th with the sampling beginning at 5 PM on South Dodge Street in Algona. If you would like to participate in the event, please stop by the Algona Chamber of Commerce office at 123 E. State Street in downtown Algona to sign up. Vendors are being asked to provide 150 sample sized servings of whatever they choose to prepare. They will also need their own table and a 25-foot extension cord if electricity is needed. A modest stipend will be provided for food vendors to help offset costs.
