For the second season in a row, Algona sophomore Reese Taylor represented the Bulldog girls swimming and diving team at the state meet in Marshalltown, as Taylor placed 30th in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 149.20. Taylor’s 30th place finish marked a one spot improvement from her 31st place finish at the state meet last season as a freshman. The event was won by Marshalltown senior Abby Tollefson with a score of 504.55.

Taylor punched her ticket to state with a runner up finish at the regional diving meet in Ames, and says things came together for her shortly before the meet.

Taylor was a newcomer to the sport last season, joining the team shortly before the season, but says had more competitions and clinics over the summer to prepare for the season.

According to Taylor, she added on small details to her technique this year.

Taylor says her attempts at the 1-meter dive at state didn’t go as planned.

In spite of not placing as highly as she had hoped, Taylor feels she can build off what she has done so far and have a great offseason.
