–With Thanksgiving behind us, many will be using time over the holiday weekend to decorate their home for the Christmas season. Bob Jennings with Algona Municipal Utilities reminds homeowners to think safety and not Clark Griswold while put up their lights.

Jennings says one of the biggest hazards can be trying to tape up old extension cords that may be frayed.

He says to check the labels on your lights to make sure you’re using them in the proper places.

Also, make sure you’re installing things properly outdoors and using proper outlets.
