–With property tax reform looming in the new year, the city of Algona is looking at raising certain permit fees to not only help cover costs, but to make up some lost revenue. City Administrator Jacob Tjaden discussed the matter with the City Council during a work session Monday afternoon.
Tjaden says many of the fees have seen few changes since the turn of the century.
Tjaden says with the budget uncertainties ahead, they need to find ways to bring in some revenue, while also keeping these fees affordable for the public.
City staff will now look at finalizing any proposed rate increases and will present them to the council after the new year.
