–A new trial date has been set for the man accused of killing an Algona Police officer back in September.

43-year-old Kyle Lou Ricke is facing a charge of First Degree Murder in connection with the shooting death of Officer Kevin Cram on the night of September 13th, 2023. Back in November, Judge Nancy Whittenburg set a trial date of May 14th in Kossuth County District Court.

During a court hearing last week, Whittenburg set the new trial date for June 25th after a continuance had been requested.

Court records show the continuance was requested after it was discovered Officer Cram’s family had a conflict during that time in May.

A pretrial conference has now been set for May 31st at 10AM, with the trial commencing on June 25th at 9:30 AM.
