–Iowa Lakes Community College is announcing a pair of new scholarships will now be available for students involved with 2 different programs at the school, with each of them geared towards Kossuth County residents.
According to a news release, the family of Joe and Ruth Ann Loebach have established scholarships for students in both the Wind Energy and Nursing programs at Iowa Lakes, that will be available starting in the fall of 2024. Each of the scholarships will give preference to students who are parishioners at St. John’s in Bancroft, St. Cecelia’s in Algona, and St. Michael’s in Whittemore.
The Loebach Family chose to support nursing students to help address the challenges within the healthcare industry and encourage aspiring individuals to pursue a career in direct patient care. The wind energy scholarship comes from years of conservation efforts on the part of Joe and Ruth Ann, who even explored the use of a wind turbine on their acreage.
Each of the scholarships will provide the recipient with $1,000 per academic year, to be split between the fall and spring semesters.
With these new additions, Iowa Lakes now offers more than 150 scholarships for consideration when prospective and current students complete the school’s scholarship application that is available at www.iowalakes.edu/scholarships.
