–The Algona Economic Development Corporation has handed out the very first award from their Algona Advantage program to a food truck business with plans for expansion. Algona Municipal Utilities General Manager John Bilsten serves as the President of the AAEDC, and he spoke with KLGA News about the Algona Advantage Program and how it works.
Bilsten says they wanted to make the program as simple as possible for Algona businesses to apply.

The first forgivable loan from the Algona Advantage Program is going to Sydney Lewis, owner and operator of “The Reef” food truck. Lewis plans to expand her business with a sit-down restaurant in downtown Algona and has set a goal of opening by September 1st. By opening a permanent site in the downtown area, Lewis plans to expand her menu and offer more seasonal variety to customers.
