Multiple Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash Near Titonka

–Each driver and a juvenile passenger suffered minor injuries following a 2-vehicle collision late last week.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 71-year-old Carolyn Brandt was pulling on to County Road B14 from a rural residence when her 2010 Ford Edge was struck by an eastbound 2023 Chevy Silverado, driven by 35-year-old Michael Geitzenauer of Titonka around 7:30 AM this past Friday. Geitzenauer hit his brakes when he realized Brandt was pulling out in front of him, but he was unable to avoid the collision.

Following the collision, Brandt’s vehicle spun and ended up facing the opposite direction in the north ditch. She was taken to Kossuth Regional Health Center by Titonka EMS with what were described as minor injuries. A juvenile passenger in Brandt’s vehicle was also taken by ambulance to KRHC, while two other juvenile passengers were evaluated at the scene and taken home by their parents.

Geitzenauer reported minor injuries but was not transported from the scene. Damage to his vehicle was estimated at $5,000.

Brandt was cited for failure to yield upon entering a highway. Damage to her vehicle was estimated at $8,000.
