The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union state championship for girls golf is in the books after day two of the two day competition wrapped up Friday afternoon.

In the class 1A competition at Marshalltown’s American Legion course, Bishop Garrigan’s Avery Lichter wrapped up her high school golf career with a fourth place finish.  Lichter shot an 83 over 18 holes on day two, after her 85 on day one, moving up from 6th place to 4th place on the 2nd day.  Lichter’s two day total over the 36 holes was 168.  The fourth place finish marks the 2nd top five state finish in Lichter’s career, after placing 3rd last season.  Lichter golfed at state all four seasons of her career, placing 33rd in 2021 and 31st in 2022.

In the class 3A competition at the Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls, Algona’s Abby Brooks finished her high school career with an 18th place finish.  Brooks shot an 80 on day two after an 86 on day one, moving her up from 21st place to 18th.  Brooks’ final total over the two days and 36 holes was 166.  The 18th place finish marks a 31 place improvement for Brooks from last year’s 49th place finish.
