–The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors accepted a recommendation from the county’s Planning and Zoning Commission for a 9-month moratorium on Large Scale Solar projects during their meeting Tuesday. The commission held a public hearing on the idea Monday afternoon before receiving a presentation from Luke Seaberg, a Field Specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Seaberg serves in the Community and Economic Development Unit for ISU Extension, and he has received national funding to try and bring information to the public about solar energy.

Seaberg wants to schedule a public meeting in Kossuth County this fall to present information to area residents.

Members of the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended that Seaberg try and schedule that meeting before harvest activities get going in earnest. Once a meeting time and location have been set, Seaberg told the commission he would try and get the word out to as many area residents as possible to boost attendance.
