–The Algona City Council discussed the sanitary sewer lateral connection inspection program that is currently underway during their meeting this week. City Administrator Jacob Tjaden told the council they are still waiting for some residents that live in the Red Sector around the north Main Street area to schedule appointments for their inspections.

These residents should have received notification in the mail earlier this month on how to schedule an inspection. Tjaden says this next letter will give a specific deadline for making that appointment.

If homeowners in this area do not schedule an inspection by November 22nd, they could see a $100 a month surcharge on their utility bill until the appointment is made. Inspections in other areas of Algona will be conducted in the spring, and homeowners is those sectors will be notified when they need to schedule an inspection. There is more information about the inspection program available at www.algonaiowa.gov.
