–The Kossuth County Dementia Care support group will host a fundraising meal Thursday night in Algona. Spokesperson Kris Schlievert tells KLGA News they will host the event at the United Methodist Church in downtown Algona.
The meal will be served from 5-7 PM Thursday. To go along with the meal, Schlievert says they have another way you can help support their efforts.
Kossuth County Dementia Care provides help to area residents who care for a loved one who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Schlievert says they are assisting more families each year, and they simply want area residents to know that there is local assistance for any caregivers.
The Iowa chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association estimates around 66,000 Iowan’s are suffering from some sort of dementia, and nearly 75,000 Iowans provide unpaid care. You can find more information about the group by searching for Kossuth Dementia Care on Facebook.
