–A Middle School student in Humboldt is facing a felony charge following a fire inside the school’s bathroom earlier this month.
According to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, a fire was reported inside a bathroom at the Humboldt Middle School around 8 AM on April 14th. Students and staff members were immediately evacuated and a staff member extinguished the blaze, with firefighters responding to the scene as a precaution.
An investigation into the incident by school administrators and law enforcement officials determined the fire was intentionally set and evidence was collected, leading to a suspect in the case.
The unidentified juvenile has been charged with arson, a class c felony. The student was arrested and then released into the custody of a parent to await a juvenile court hearing.
