Former State Legislator Jim Carlin, who’s challenging Congresswoman Ashley Hinson in Iowa’s Republican Party Senate primary election says, he favors major changes in United States’ monetary policy.
Critics say the gold standard prevents governments and central banks from lowering interest rates when there’s an economic crisis. Supporters like Carlin say it will stabilize the value of U.S. currency and promote savings.
Carlin made his comments during a recent campaign stop in Estherville. He’s scheduled to be in Algona Monday night, as he will be the featured speaker at an event hosted by the group Patriots of Iowa. That event will run from 7-9 PM Monday at the Water’s Edge Nature Center.
