–A Northwest Iowa man is facing charges of animal abuse in Kossuth County after a pair of emaciated dogs were found dead at a residence in Lu Verne earlier this year.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies arrested 28-year-old James Robert Charron of Spencer just before 9 PM Monday night after he was located in Palo Alto County. Charron has been charged with 2 counts of Animal Abuse, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
A criminal complaint filed in Kossuth County District Court alleges two dogs were found deceased inside a Lu Verne residence in May, where Charron had been living at the time. The complaint states that one of the animals was found on a couch in the living room, while the other was found in an upstairs bedroom that had been locked. Officials noted that the ribs of each animal were clearly visible, indicating they had not been fed for a significant amount of time. The complaint goes on to say that animal feces were also found throughout the residence.
Charron was booked into the Kossuth County Jail before posting a $2,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to have a preliminary court hearing on July 9th.
