–Work on railroad crossings in Algona will shift this week, forcing the closure of Main Street.

The City of Algona announced Friday that the Roan Street crossing is scheduled to reopen August 24th, and after that happens, work on the Main Street crossings will begin.

Two sets of railroad tracks will be removed on Main Street, with traffic being detoured onto Finn Drive while the work is underway. Officials say the work on Main Street will take approximately 3-4 weeks to complete.

Work on the Hall Street railroad crossing is expected to be completed by the end of this week.

If you have any questions about the projects or the road closures, you can contact Algona City Hall by calling 515-295-2411.
