–A Clear Lake man was injured in a single vehicle crash that killed a Webster County man early Monday morning near Marathon in rural Buena Vista County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2010 Cadillac SRX driven by 38-year-old Nicholas Skog of Fort Dodge, was southbound on 200th Avenue, just north of Marathon around 5:45 AM. The accident report states that Skog lost control and the vehicle entered the east ditch, where it began to roll and eventually came to rest facing the opposite direction.
Skog, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
37-year-old Rusty Rodgers of Clear Lake was a passenger in vehicle. The accident report notes that he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and he was transported by ambulance to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
The accident remains under investigation.
