–Two area women who spent more than three decades together organizing the Algona Band Day Festival will serve as the grand marshals for this year’s parade. Former Algona Chamber of Commerce Director Vicki Mallory and longtime business owner Kim Thilges will be featured in the parade through downtown Algona on Saturday, October 3rd.
Mallory helped organize the band day festival for over 30 years as a part in her role as Chamber Director, while Thilges served as a volunteer on the Band Day committee over that same time. The duo spent countless hours coordinating bands, parade entries, volunteers, and various details that helped make the event one of the areas great traditions.
Mallory and Thilges often appeared together during the parade itself, and now they will take another ride together, this time at the front of the 78th Algona Band Day parade.
The parade through downtown Algona will begin at 1 PM on October 3rd, with a field show that evening at Algona High School.
