–The Algona City Council approved the purchase of a new fire truck during their meeting Monday evening. Fire Chief Mitch Ulrick spoke to the council about the truck they are looking to buy.

Ulrick says they follow guidelines when it comes to replacing their pumper trucks.

Ulrick and City Administrator Jacob Tjaden told the council that bids on the truck came in below what was expected.

Ulrick says they can’t trade the old truck in, but there is another option for getting some value from it to help with the costs.

The council approved the bid from Toyne, Inc. out of Breda, Iowa unanimously. Ulrick says it will likely be July of 2022 before the new truck arrives.
