–The Iowa State Patrol will be stepping up their efforts over the 4th of July holiday to help Iowan’s get to their celebrations safely. Trooper Paul Gardner tells KLGA News that they want to make sure everyone is responsible when they are out on the roadways.

Gardner says summertime is primetime for traffic fatalities.

Area residents will be seeing an increase in traffic over the holiday with the annual ABATE Freedom Really set to take place June 30th-July 2nd. Gardner says they hope the riders coming to town will exercise caution as well.

Gardner says it’s much better to slow down and arrive at your destination a little later than planned, than to not arrive at all.
