–A Titonka man is facing multiple charges after being taken into custody early Sunday morning following the report of a disturbance at an apartment complex.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to an apartment complex at 324 1st Ave. NE in Titonka just after 7:30 AM Sunday on the report of an individual causing problems. Reports indicated that a male was pounding on apartment doors and identifying himself as law enforcement.

When Deputies arrived, they identified the individual as 43-year-old Shawn Krug. Deputies also discovered that Krug had barricaded himself inside his apartment. When Deputies attempted to communicate with Krug, he allegedly threw an object through a window, nearly striking a Deputy. After verbal communications failed, deputies deployed a taser in an attempt to control the situation, during which time Krug allegedly struck a Deputy in the face, causing injury.

Krug was arrested, and after being checked by medical staff at Kossuth Regional Health Center, was taken to the Kossuth County Jail. He is being charged with 1 count of impersonating a public official, 2 counts of harassment, 1 count of interference with official acts, 2 counts of assault on a peace officer, 1 count of disorderly conduct and 1 count of criminal mischief.

The injured Deputy was treated and released from KRHC after receiving stitches to close a laceration to his face.
