Central Iowa Man Taken into Custody After Violating Probation

–A Central Iowa man was taken into custody late last week in Kossuth County after the court revoked his probation last year.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Roderick Lawayne Murphy of Des Moines was transported to Kossuth County by Law Enforcement officials from Western Iowa’s Woodbury County this past Friday.

Online court records show Murphy’s probation was revoked in November of 2022, in a case dating back to June of 2019.He was originally charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Air/Blood Flow, a Class D Felony, 4th Degree Criminal Mischief and Contempt of Court.

As part of a plea agreement, Murphy pled guilty to the Domestic Assault Charge and was given a 5-year suspended prison sentence and 5-years of probation. He was also received a 30-day jail sentence on the contempt charge.

After being taken into custody last week, Murphy was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
