–The Algona City Council approved the city’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year during their meeting Monday evening. City Administrator Jacob Tjaden presented some items of importance to the council during a public hearing prior to their approval of the budget.

Tjaden says property valuations have gone up, but that doesn’t necessarily translate into higher property tax collections.

Some of the major spending items in the upcoming budget-year include the Airport Runway Extension Phase 1, Street improvements and Central Park.
