Chase Leads to Felony Charges for Palo Alto County Man

–A Palo Alto County man is facing multiple felony charges after leading Law Enforcement on a chase over the weekend.

According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop just after 1AM on May 20th, within the city limits of Graettinger. As the Deputy activated the emergency lights, the suspect’s vehicle did not stop and began eluding the officer. The Deputy began pursuit until the vehicle stopped, at which time a male driver exited and began to flee on foot.

After a short pursuit on foot, Deputies were able to apprehend the driver, identified as Chase Eugene Cole of Graettinger, and placed him under arrest. Cole is facing charges of OWI 3rd Offense and OWI Eluding, as both charges are Class D Felonies. He is also being charged with several traffic counts, including driving with suspended license, having an open container of alcohol, interference with official acts, and multiple traffic violations.

Cole was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail to await an initial court appearance. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, the Graettinger Ambulance Service, and Wickman’s Towing.
