Moving Veterans Forward will host a community picnic this weekend that will also serve as a fundraiser for there new warehouse project. Organizer John Emswiler, who founded the North Iowa chapter of Moving Veterans Forward, spoke with KLGA News and he says they have great food and some fun activities planned for Saturday during the Salute to Veterans celebration.

The picnic will be held at Wildhaven, located along Tietz Street on the southwest edge of Algona. Emswiler says the free will donations they take in will aid their efforts in replacing their current warehouse, just south of the Kossuth County Fairgrounds.

In the past week, Emswiler reached out looking for volunteers to assist with the picnic, and he says the response was overwhelming.

The Salute to Veterans event will be held from 11AM-3PM Saturday at Wildhaven. Emswiler will also give a presentation about their warehouse project during the event. Moving Veterans Forward is a non-profit organization that assists disabled veterans by providing home furnishings and supplies needed as they transition back to civilian life.
