–The famous Dr. Seuss character “The Grinch” has been sentenced to community service after he was arrested in Kossuth County last month. During a court hearing on Monday, District Court Judge Ann Gales explained the proceeding to the jury comprised of North Union Elementary School students.

Even though he’s not an attorney, Kossuth County Sheriff Roger Fisher handled the prosecution’s case. During his opening statement, Sheriff Fisher told the jurors they would provide evidence on the Grinch’s dastardly deeds.

In the American justice system, even the Grinch is entitled to legal representation. Defending the Grinch in court on Monday was Cindy Lou Who, who was no more than two.

Despite testimony from Deputy Sheriff Jake Radmaker describing how the caught the Grinch in the act of trying to steal the naughty and nice list from the North Union Elementary buildings, the jurors decided to release him from custody. Judge Gales then imposed sentence on the Grinch.

It remains to be seen if the Grinch will be on his best behavior while completing his community service.
